Encyclopedia of Fatima (S.A.)

The unveiling ceremony of “Encyclopedia of Fatima (SA)” in six volume was held. In this ceremony, Ayatollah Naser Makarem shirazi spoke in video message to the ceremony, then professors and scholars of Islamic seminary and University, Ayatollah Reza Ostadi, Ayatollah Ali-Akbar Rashad, Hojja ul-Islam Abol`qasem Moqimi Haji and Dr. Fariba Alasvand delivered speech. Then after Ayatollah Hossein Noori Hamedani’s speech he unveiled the encyclopedia.
Ayatollah Naser Makarem shirazi in his video message to the audiences of this ceremony told: the Encyclopedia of Fatima (SA) which is published in six volumes is unique.
He addressed the high rank of Fatima for the holy prophet (SAWA) and her unique eminence among the Muslims and noted that it is necessary to pursuit researches on her characteristics conduct. In this regard, this encyclopedia is a historic and significant work and we must appreciate the compilers.
He added: the first prominent feature of this work is the comprehensive research and scholarism. The authors referred to all the necessary references to reach for comprehensiveness. The second prominent feature is the cooperation of ‘Ulama, scholars and professors in compilation of this work. It is obvious that the more team-working the more preciseness and less errors.
The third prominent feature is the literature of the encyclopedia. It is deliberate, scholarly and careful. The 4th prominent feature is the special structure and system of this work. The first volume contains the life history of Fatimah (SA) the second volume contains figures, virtues, and visions narrated in Hadiths and the holy Quran. The third volume covers Hadiths, sermons, supplications and speeches of Fatimah (SA). The three remaining volume contains the discussions on the women, Islamic tradition for them, their responsibilities and rights. Accordingly, We can conclude that the encyclopedia has a special and unique structure.
Ayatollah Ali Akbar Rashad, the next key-speaker of the ceremony and the supervisor of the encyclopedia delivered speech. He noted that compiling encyclopedia is a discipline which needs special attention. In the past, there were Arabic encyclopedias by the name of Mausu’a. Nowadays encyclopedias have been developed revolutionarily. In the west some Islamic encyclopedias has been compiled that most of the authors and editors are Christian and Jewish. It is obvious that Islamic seminaries and scholars must pay more attention to compiling Islamic encyclopedias. Islamic Research Institute for Culture & Thought IICT, dedicated his research to compiling encyclopedia during past 14 years.
The first Islamic Research Institute for Culture & Thought IICT’s work in this regard is “Encyclopedia of Imam Ali” and two other are in the final levels. And today we gathered here to unveil a precious work named “Encyclopedia of Fatima (AS)” in six volumes. This encyclopedia has 117 entries and for its compilation 98 researchers and 40 editors cooperated.
At the end of the ceremony Ayatollah Hossein Noori Hamedani delivered speech and then the six volume of “encyclopedia of Fatima (AS)” has been unveiled.
