Imam Mahdi (A.S.) and the Holy Quran
Recitation of the Quran in the Womb
Bibi Hakeemah Khatoon was the aunt of Imam Hasan al-Askary (A.S.). She has narrated that:
[One day I came to visit Abu Muhammad (A.S.) â referring to Imam al-Askary (A.S.) â when he (A.S.) told me, âO aunt! I want you to stay over at our place. Indeed today Allah (SWT) will reveal my successorâ. I asked, âFrom whose womb?â And he (A.S.) said, â(From the womb of) Narjisâ. âBut no sign of pregnancy is apparent from herâ, I said. He (A.S.) said, âO aunt! Narjis Khatoon is like the mother of Moses whose pregnancy became apparent during birthâ.
I stayed over. I was in a room and Narjis in another. After midnight, I was engrossed in the midnight prayer when a thought crossed my mind and I said to myself, âWhat Abu Muhammad told me has not happened and the time of Fajr is nearingâ. Suddenly I heard the voice of Abu Muhammad from another room telling me, âO aunt! Do not hurry!â I felt ashamed of myself and returned to the room. Narjis Khatoon appeared before me and looked worried, so I embraced her and began recitation of Surah al-Ikhlaas, Surah al-Qadr, Aayatul-Kursi and together with me, the child in the womb of Narjis also recited the same.] (Quran-o-âItrat)
Recitation of Quran During Birth
Bibi Hakeemah Khatoon has also narrated that:
[After Narjis gave birth to a son, I picked the child and heard Abu Muhammad (A.S.) calling, âO aunt! Bring my son to me!â I took the child to his father, who took him from me and made him suck his tongue. Thereafter, he (A.S.) placed the child on his lap and said, âO son! Speak by the permission of Allahâ. The child said,
âI seek refuge in Allah, the All-hearing, the All-knowing from the accursed Satan. In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. And We desired to show favour to those who were abased in the land, and to make them Imams, and to make them the heirs, and to establish them in the land, and to show Pharaoh and Hamaan and their hosts from them that of which they were apprehensiveâ. (38:4-5)â. The child then sent his salutations (Salawaat) on the Holy Prophet (saww), Sayyida Fatima al-Zahra (A.S.) and on all the previous eleven Imams (A.S.).] (Al-Haraij wal-Haraij)
Verse of Quran Written on Right Hand
Bibi Hakeemah Khatoon (A.S.) has reported that:
âWhen this child was born, he (AJ) was pure from all impurities and it was written on his right arm: âTruth has come and falsehood has vanished. Indeed falsehood is bound to vanishâ. (17:81)â. (Quran-o-âItrat)
Recitation of Quran after the Reappearance
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (A.S.) has said,
âWhen the Qaim of the progeny of Muhammad (saww) makes his reappearance (from occultation), he will first and foremost recite: âThat which is left to you by Allah (Baqiyyatullah) is better, if you are believersâŠâ (11:86) Thus no one will greet him except by saying:
ASSALAAMU âALAYKA YAA BAQIYYATALLAHI FEE ARDHIHI (Peace be on you Oâ Baqiyyatallah on His earth)â. (Ikmaal al-Deen)
