Martyrdom of Hadrat Ali Asghar (A.S.)
Hadrat Ali Asghar (A.S.), the six months old child of Imam Husain (A.S.) was martyred on Ashura day in Karbala when his throat was slit by the three-pronged arrow shot by the famous archer of Arabia Harmala ibn Kahil Asadi.
Before Imam Husain's martyrdom in the evening of Ashura when all his sons, family members and companions were martyred in battlefield by the Yazidi forces, Imam Husain (A.S.) took Hadrat Ali Asghar (A.S.), his six months old child who was thirsty for more than three days and her mother was unable to breast feed him because water supplies were completely blockaded by the Yazidi forces for last four days. Imam Husain (A.S.) took his thirsty baby Ali Asghar (A.S.) in his arms before the Yazidi army and requested them to give little water to the six months old thirsty baby.
But on the orders of Omar Ibn Saad, the Commander-in-Chief of the Yazidi army, the famous archer of Arabia by name Harmala ibn Kahil Asadi shot at the throat of Ali Asghar (A.S.) by his three-pronged arrow and martyred the six month old thirsty baby on the arms of his father by this arrow shot.
Imam Husain (A.S.) like all other martyrs of Karbala was also thirsty for more than three days because the water supply to the tents of Imam Husain (A.S.) and his family members and companions was completely blockaded by the Yazidi army.
